Josephine Sandbar

The Josephine Sandbar is a historic marker on the Pascagoula River in George County. Nestled between banks of hardwood forests, the sandbar offers visitors a beautiful respite along their journey through the unimpeded waters of the Pascagoula River.

The sandbar is a perfect place for picnics, gatherings, swimming, and relaxing with family and friends. You may see a variety of wildlife including birds, fish, turtles, and more that may be living in the forested banks above the river.

A permit is required for all visitors to the sandbar. Permits are accessible through the Pascagoula River Wildlife Management Area. With one of these permits, anyone may visit the river throughout the entire year.
