Crooked Feather Sculpture
This giant Native American head, sculpted in 1999 by Thomas King, is a replica of a 1975 sculpture created by Peter Wolf Toth. Peter Wolf Toth has carved many such heads that are scattered across the county, referred to as the “Trail of Whispering Giants.” All are cut from native trees in the area and are made in collaboration with Native groups, a tribute to North American Native Americans.
“Crooked Feather” is the 17th statue of the project, and the only one in Mississippi. “Crooked Feather” honors the Bylocchy, Pascoboula, and Moctoby tribes and is made of cypress, towering over 30 feet tall.
