The Golden Fisherman
The Golden Fisherman was once one of the largest statues in Mississippi, standing at 16-feet. The statue was first unveiled in 1977 in Biloxi to commemorate the seafood industry’s heritage in the Gulf Coast region. In 2005 the statue was severely damaged and was unfortunately stolen by scrap metal scavengers. In 2006, law enforcement was able to recover The Golden Fisherman and return it to its home on the Gulf Coast. Since its return there have been multiple fundraisers to help renovate the sculpture, where the sculpture is now resorted on the grounds of the Maritime Museum.
