The Gulf Coast Heritage Area has the past that stretches back more than 10,000 years. It was around this time that local Native American tribes began to settle here. The Gulf Coast Heritage area is filled with many local museums that help us remember who we are. From the earliest Native American tribes to today, history buffs everywhere can enjoy learning about our incredibly diverse history and heritage.

ALICE MOSLEY FOLK ART & ANTIQUE MUSEUM

This museum honors the memory of folk artist Alice Mosley (1909-2004). In addition to the works of Alice Mosley, the museum also has collections of vintage bottles, depression glass and beautiful antiques.

BAY ST. LOUIS MARDI GRAS MUSEUM

The museum displays Mardi Gras costumes alongside other Mardi Gras memorabilia. This festive venue gets visitors in the mood for a fun and colorful time!

The GI Museum’s mission is to preserve and represent the generations of Americans who have served our country. It is because of them that we remain free today.

INTERMODAL TOURIST CENTER & LOWER PEARL RIVER VALLEY TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM

Educational exhibits on early automobiles, trains, and even space travel can be found at one of Pearl River’s most interesting venues. Learning about early forms of travel will certainly make you appreciate how far we’ve come.

LAPOINTE-KREBS HOUSE & MUSEUM

The LaPointe-Krebs House, built in 1757, is the oldest structure in Mississippi and is the oldest confirmed building in the entire Mississippi Valley.

LYNN MEADOWS DISCOVERY CENTER

All the best things about being a kid come together at Mississippi’s First Children’s Museum. Live, learn, laugh and play in 15,000 square feet of indoor and 7.5 acres of outdoor adventures!

MARITIME & SEAFOOD INDUSTRY MUSEUM

MARY C O'KEEFE CULTURAL CENTER

The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center believes that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy performing, culinary and visual art events.

TRAINTASTIC

Local enthusiasts of Mississippi’s coastal railroad history are dedicated to implementing educational programs for the whole family at TrainTastic, formerly the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum. 

NASA INFINITY SCIENCE CENTER

The state of the art 72,000 square foot facility includes interactive exhibits about NASA, space, planets, stars, weather, space travel and exploration.

OHR-O'KEEFE MUSEUM OF ART

The museum in home to a variety of historic and compelling exhibitions. Named for Biloxi potter George E. Ohr (1857-1918) and with a focus on the ceramics, the museum celebrates the evolution of the South’s movement in the arts.

OLD FIREHOUSE MUSEUM

The Wiggins Old Firehouse Museum is full of records and artifacts that preserve the stories and history of Stone County. It hosts several new traditions that intrigue children and adults alike. 

SHEARWATER POTTERY

A pottery studio that is a must see for anyone who appreciates the arts. A family business that has been around since 1928, Shearwater Pottery is still going strong and remains on the South’s prominent centers for pottery.

PASCAGOULA RIVER AUDUBON CENTER

The Pascagoula River Audubon Center acts as a gateway to the Pascagoula River; the center sits atop a nature preserve that protects more that 35,000 acres of land along the Pascagoula River. Wildlife along the Pascagoula is quite diverse, with some species found nowhere else on Earth.

WALTER ANDERSON MUSEUM OF ART

Visiting the Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) is a unique experience for the whole family. WAMA opened in 1991 and celebrates the life and works of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-1965).

WAR & PEACE: THE T.F. MONTI PRIVATE MODEL COLLECTION

T.F. Monti’s private model collection has wartime memorabilia including PT boats, fighter jets and tanks. This private collection gives visitors a glimpse into authentic U.S. military history.

WAVELAND'S GROUND ZERO HURRICANE MUSEUM

Waveland was among one of the most devastated areas in all of the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This museum pays tribute to all those who suffered and all who preserved in this time of human tragedy.
