Pearl River County

Pearl River County is a great source of both history and family-friendly travel. Pearl River County was founded in 1890 and is home to the Mulatto Bayou, Heron Bay, and the Pearl River. Take your family to the city of Poplarville and pick farm-fresh blueberries and learn how they are grown. Also, don’t forget to check out the Shaw House hidden away in Oxford; the history and legends surrounding it can be spooky!

You can also bring your family to the Crosby Arboretum and learn how to preserve and protect the environment. There are plenty of learning opportunities because the Arboretum maintains roughly 700 acres of natural areas for scientific study.

Fun Fact: Poplarville is the blueberry capital of Mississippi!
