George County Fair
Once a year The George County Fairgrounds welcome almost as many people to its friendly confines as reside in the entire county. About 20,000 people head for the 17-acre facility on Old Highway 63 South in Lucedale.
The fair is Tuesday through Saturday the 3rd week in October. George County 4-H Club agents judge 8,000 entries from crafts to food to clothing. Generations of Mississippians show and sell their sheep, beef, goats, and swine. 17 different rides cost $3 to $5. Thursday is billed as family night where $20 armbands guarantee free rides for kids up to age 18. The Lucedale Rotary Club Mississippi State University Extension Service act as the fair’s main sponsors. The carnival is broken down on Saturday night and moves on to Jackson County Fairgrounds in Pascagoula after its 6 glorious days in George County.
Make sure you find yourself at the Fairgrounds this October for prize winning spectacles of food, music, and farming right here in George County.
