The Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area is interested in collecting information, stories, and first hand accounts regarding Gulf Coast Designer and Builder Carroll B Ishee (1921-1982).
Carroll B. Ishee was a building designer and contractor in the mid-twentieth century who was a unique and special contributor to the architectural heritage of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Ishee can be viewed as an artist, one whose medium was bricks and mortar, lumber, and glass, which he turned into buildings. His structures are distinct and no two are identical. Just as in the study of any other artists, we are interested in knowing more of his work. We hope to be able to put his designs in context to better understand the contributions this innovative designer/builder has made to our Mississippi Gulf Coast through the construction of one hundred plus buildings. Through this understanding, we hope to promote the preservation & celebration of his special and unique works.
