Those who once sailed ashore in 1699 come alive on April 26-27 when the 1699 Historical Society re-enacts the annual landing of d’Iberville. The public is invited to partake in a weekend of festivities.
On Friday, April 26, the celebration kicks off with an unveiling reception featuring the landing participants. The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Community Center (512 Washington Avenue). Food will be provided and beverages will be available.
On Saturday, April 27, festivities continue with a 5k run/walk and 1-mile free kids’ fun run at Fort Maurepas Park on Front Beach. 5K run/walk beings at 8:15 a.m. and 1 mile free kids run/walk begins at 9 a.m. Late registration starts at 7 a.m. Followed by festivities for the whole family including live music at Fort Maurepas and a full-dress re-enactment. Free to attend.
