Charles Graham donated this veteran shrimp boat to give visitors a tactile experience of shrimping life here on The Gulf Coast. Assume the captain's position in the wheelhouse, imagine the smells in the galley and the swells on the water. Inspect the bunks, study a diorama of the wetlands, and discover what's inside three different 100 gallon fish tanks. There's 70 feet of shrimp boat from tip to tail to explore here on the Pascagoula River.
The boat was damaged during Hurricane George, and after Hurricane Katrina, it was flipped on its side. A $60,000 grant from the State of Mississippi and countless volunteer hours have awoken the vessel's nautical nostalgia. In the 80's and 90's, 9 out of every 10 area school children had taken a field trip to this boat. Recent renovations have restored the former glory of this incredible floating educational environment.
